Summer rarely happens where the bar is. It happens on a seawall, a stone bench, the shallow end at four in the afternoon. The trick has always been getting the good bottle there with you.

Fieldbar Co. solved it with an object. Founded in 2020 in Cape Town, South Africa, by Lee Hartman and Corban Warrington, the company makes handcrafted, safari-inspired cooler boxes and fine outdoor gear — steel shells in deep navy, sage, cream and burnt gold, brass hardware, hand-stitched leather straps. It is luggage more than it is equipment. You carry it the way you carry a good bag.

We noticed it for a simpler reason: an Edmond’s Honor bottle fits inside, standing up, with room left for ice, juice and limes. Which makes the whole afternoon a matter of packing, not planning.

II. The Drinks Box

The one that fits the bottle.

Tall where a cooler is usually wide, the Fieldbar Drinks Box was designed around bottles — spirits standing upright, mixers beside them, ice around the shoulders. A leather carry strap, brass fittings, and a lacquered steel shell that looks better after a season of use than it did in the box.

It is, functionally, a bar you can set down anywhere: sand, stone, teak, tile. Open it and the afternoon has a center.
